History

The company was founded in 1924 by Martin Dohmen in Würselen near Aachen and developed over the years into a modern company for the production of truck scales.

The following are some milestones in our company history:

2024	Takeover of the business by the fourth generation consisting of Martin Dohmen, Marvin Dohmen, Peter Dohmen and Torsten Dohmen
2020	Introduction of safety management and attainment of the „Sicher mit System“ („Safe with a System“) seal of approval from BGHM
2017	Obtaining the certification for the production of load-bearing components
2017	Acquisition of another neighboring commercial property
2014	Construction and occupation of a new office wing with exhibition and training rooms
2013	Authorized – to carry out conformity assessments on scales with our design approval
2011	Authorized as a repairer according to § 72 calibration regulations
2009	Expansion through the purchase of a neighboring storage hall
2008	Receipt of the Adalbert-Seifriz-Award for successful technology transfer with a university Innovation award of the Aachen region, category handicraft for the development of a special weighing system
2005	Type approval for rail scales by the Federal Railway Authority Introduction of quality management according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000
2001	New building to double the production area
2000	Membership in the VDMA Weighing Technology Association
1996	Premises built and software department set up for the development of a wide range of application software for various weighing systems
1995	Move to the new premises „Am Weiweg 6, Würselen“ with production halls for prefabricated scale bridges, scale foundations and industrial scales made of steel
1991	New company name: „Waagenbau Dohmen GmbH“
1984	Production of precast concrete parts for truck scales
1981	Participation in the company by Martin Dohmen New company name: „Peter Dohmen, Waagenbau, Inh. Martin und Peter Dohmen“
1979	Takeover of the company by Peter Dohmen Reconstruction and modernization of the production facilities
1975	Extension of the production plant and entry of the 3rd generation into the company New company name: „Peter Dohmen, Waagenbau, Inh. P. Dohmen sen. und P. Dohmen jun.“
1969	Production of turnkey truck scales incl. all concrete work
1961	In the meantime the company is called „Peter Dohmen, Waagenbau“
1952	Construction of a new production hall Obtaining of the approval for the construction of mechanical truck scales by the Physikalisch-Technische-Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig on 28.10.1952 and approval of the manufacturer’s label Production of the first mechanical scales
1950	Takeover of the company by the next generation under the name „Martin Dohmen, Inh. Peter Dohmen, Waagen-Reparaturwerkstatt“ in Würselen, Germany
1924	Foundation of „Martin Dohmen, Waagen-Reparaturwerkstatt“ with headquarter in Würselen
1908	Start of a professional family tradition with the beginning of the apprenticeship as a scale fitter of the later company founder Martin Dohmen at an old-established Aachen scale factory
